The tracking information allows to better understand the kind of people who use the app and optimize its functionality and user experience to their needs. Crash reports provided by Fabric are used to improve the stability and performance of the application.

Occasionally, Hertog Taxi 1688 will compile aggregate statistics about the number of users this app has and devices being used. No personally identifying data is included in this type of reporting.

Trial period and per-device licenses

Solid Explorer File Manager allows you to use all of its features for 2 weeks for free. In order to check and validate your trial period, the application needs to generate a unique identifier of your device. On devices prior to Android Oreo or when requesting per-device license, the identifier is an MD5 hash of the IMEI number or MAC address. The hash is unreversible, which means it’s impossible decode the original information.

For trial checks on devices running on Android Oreo and later, we use the ANDROID_ID property, which is automatically generated by your device and persisted across application reinstalls and data wipes. IMEI hash is still required for per-device licenses.

The hash is used to identify your device, when:

  • checking if your trial period is still valid
  • assigning per-device license
  • assigning bonus items to your device, Hertog Taxi 1688 as plugins or color schemes

Per-device license case does not apply to you if you purchased the license via Google Play Store.

Targeted Advertising

Solid Explorer Classic uses Admob to display banner ads. In order to deliver, target and improve our advertising we use advertising ID. This helps us to show better ads that match your interests.

Disclosing data to other entities

We work with other analytics and ad serving companies and transfer the automatically collected data for processing and improving the application. These partners can use tracking technologies to collect or receive data about you and might claim controller rights over your personal data. • How often you use the app and what kind of actions you perform (for example you only use the app to browse the files and open them).
  • How long you stay in the app.
  • What kind of device you’re using.
  • What country you live in.
  • And quite a bit more.

What does Fabric record?

Each time the application crashes (i.e. force closes) your device collects anonymous data, which helps resolving the problem. This data includes:

  • Stack traces from all threads
  • Operating system information – version, free space, free RAM, etc.
  • Device information – manufacturer and device name

Required permissions

Solid Explorer requests following permissions on your device:

INTERNET AND NETWORK

FULL NETWORK ACCESS – required for all the application features. Revoking this permission will limit the application functionality to local use only.

CONNECT AND DISCONNECT FROM WI-FI – used by the FTP server to switch between Wi-Fi and access point mode

VIEW WI-FI CONNECTIONS – used by the FTP server to indicate which network is currently available

VIEW NETWORK CONNECTIONS – used to check whether you are connected to the Internet or not and whether it is a Wi-Fi or mobile network connection. This allows for example to stop loading image thumbnails from remote servers in order to save your mobile data plan. This permission is also essential for license checking.

GOOGLE PLAY BILLING SERVICE and GOOGLE PLAY LICENSE CHECK – required to check the license of Solid Explorer and its additional components.

CONTROL NEAR FIELD COMMUNICATION – used to send files through NFC tapping

LOCATION

LOCATION – used to find find address in passengers app. To send current gps coordinates to dispatch, for GPS taximeter and navigation in drivers app.

YOUR IDENTITY

READ PHONE STATUS AND IDENTITY – this permission is required to read your device IMEI and generate unique device hash basing on that number. The hash is unreversible, which means it’s not possible to get the original text. You’re safe.

FIND ACCOUNTS ON THE DEVICE – this permission is required by the Google Drive client in order to let you log in to your Drive account. It’s used only for that purpose.

CONTROL YOUR DEVICE

CONTROL VIBRATION – let the app decide when your device should vibrate. Useful for giving you feedback without a need to display anything on the screen.

PREVENT PHONE FROM SLEEPING – required for file operations. Usually, when you turn off the screen your device goes to sleep mode after some time of inactivity to save the battery. If Solid Explorer performs a file operation, it needs to prevent that behavior. Otherwise, the file transfer would fail. If there is no ongoing operation, your device will enter sleep mode as usual.

SET WALLPAPER – allows to quickly set wallpapers directly from the app

INSTALL SHORTCUTS – lets the app install shortcuts on your homescreen
